A 500-Pound Bronze Tribute Is But A Memory

Call CrimeStoppers At (954) 493-TIPS.

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) ―

In the front yard of a Hollywood home, a 500-pound bronze statue depicting a woman pouring water from a jug into a large container stood as a memorial to Grace's late mother. Lights illuminated what she considered a piece of art, a graceful tribute to her mother who aspired to nurture people into symbols of hope.  She curses the people who stole it.

Grace says a few days ago her dog woke her in the middle of the night. She ran outside and the statue was gone.

She told CBS4 Carey Codd, "
They're so bold; to walk on and take a 500-pound statue with lights on it. How dare they..."

Grace fears the thieves took the statue to turn it into scrap for a few bucks. Hollywood police said they have few leads though a detective is working the case.

Not only is there emptiness in her yard, but in her heart, too.  She wants a warning to go out to such people: "How dare you go on somone's personal property and take things. How dare you."
