An international relief organization departed from Miami Friday, traveling to Haiti to deliver food and clothing to the hurricane victims throughout the country.
Food, water and clothing collected in South Florida will be delivered to the hardest hit parts of the country on Saturday.
The items have been donated in response to a plea for help by the Miami community.
City of Miami Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones and local representatives from World Vision, an international relief organization were part of the relief team, along with Dolphin Stadium, the Florida Marlins, Miami Dolphins, the Miami Hurricanes, the University of Miami, and the City of Miami Fire Department to name but a few.
"To see so many people help, not only their family members in Haiti but people they don't even know, it's great, so please, we need more water, more food," said Jones.
Anyone wishing to make a last minute donation can drop it off at any fire station in the City of Miami.
