Anyone With Information Is Asked To Call Broward Crimestoppers (954) 493-TIPS

POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) ― A homeless, paraplegic man was hit over the head, robbed of his wheelchair and $94, leaving him on the ground near a drive-through bank window earlier this week in Pompano Beach.

While Richard Denise, 64, recuperates from his wounds at the North Broward Medical Center on Thursday, a donor presented him with a motorized wheelchair.

"I thought he was going to kill me," said Denise, when describing the beating.

Lucky for him Ben Kuncman, owner of a medical supply company, donated a new wheelchair for him

"I was in disbelief how someone could do something like that," said Kuncman. "I needed to do something, and I wanted to do something."

The money stolen from Denise, he says was destined to go to his sick mother.

"I will never forget this as long as I live," said Denise, as he held back tears.

As for the crime itself, a witness told deputies from the Broward Sheriff's Office that he saw a man leaving the scene with a board in his hand, which the victim said he was threatened with.

The suspect was described having a blond ponytail, a beard and a mustache, wearing jeans and a blue shirt.

The victim also told police he was saw the same suspect in the area riding a bicycle and even had a brief conversation with him at an earlier time.
