CBS4 Valentine's Day "Love Story" Finalists
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Meet the second of the CBS4 South Florida finalists competing in our Valentine's Day "Love Stories" contest. Imagine falling in love on a summer day in a Florida orange grove. It sounds romantic, but now imagine being eight-years-old and falling in love.
That is the story of one South Florida couple who entered our CBS4 South Florida Love Letter Contest. Their story also involves an orange, a bag of chips and God.
Stacia and Jerry have been making beautiful music for more than 40 years. "I knew that being with him was going to be the best thing that ever happen to me," Pastor Stacia Wright told CBS4's Jorge Estevez at their Ministry in Fort Lauderdale.
The two met as children picking oranges and they threw oranges at each other. "Yes, we did. Yes, we did," said Stacia Wright. Shortly after the orange game, Jerry Wright gave her his first gift: a bag of chips.
But the best gift was a Valentine's Day card from 1975 Stacia Wright has kept. "You are the best thing that ever happen to me," said Jerry Wright as he read from the Card. The happy couple credits God for their successful relationship.
"I love my husband for what he is for what he have done not only for me, but for the church," Stacia said. Jerry found God and then so did she; now they head their own ministry.
CBS4 News found one thing they'd change: "His snoring," Stacia admitted. Clearly, honesty is what keeps them together, but we uncovered their other secret.
"He kisses me before he leaves and when he comes home in the afternoon he kiss me and that has been going on for 27 years," said Stacia. And that is the recipe for a marriage made in heaven.
