Puppy Rescued From Burning Home In Miami

Family Was At The Market When Fire Broke Out

Spike The Puppy Was Inside The Burning Home But Survived

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A five month old puppy is shaken up but alive after a devastating fire inside his family's home on Saturday.

Firefighters rescued Spike, a 5-month old puppy, from his home in the midtown area Saturday afternoon. He was home alone at the time.

The family that lives at 2340 NE 7th Avenue was at the market when the flames broke out. They returned home to find smoke billowing out of the windows of their house and fire fighters working feverishly to break the door in. Fortunately, the mother and her three kids were able to be reunited with the one family member stuck inside, Spike.

"Oh man, that's the best gift we have, the rest is nothing compared to that," said the homeowner as she hugged and kissed a frightened Spike.

As for the home, fire investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.

"I was born in this house," said the homeowner. "I have no idea what were gonna do. I don't know the extent of the damage."
