Another long term South Florida Republican will soon have to fight to maintain their seat in Congress.
Over the weekend, business executive Annette Taddeo, a Democrat, told
CBS4 news partners at the
Miami Herald that she intends to challenge U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen for the 18th Congressional District seat.
Last month, challenges were announced against two other Republican incumbents. First, former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez announced that he would try to unseat Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart. About a week later Joe Garcia, who formerly chaired Miami Dade's Democratic Party, announced that he would challenge Lincoln's brother, U.S. Representative Mario Diaz-Balart, for his seat in Congress.
Ros-Lehtinen who is the first Hispanic woman, and first Cuban American to run for Congress, she says she will run on her record, prioritizing the economy, health care, and national security.
