Woman's In Vitro Fertilization Produces Triplets

MIAMI (CBS4) ―

A 37-year-old woman who had been trying for five years to have children with in vitro fertilization finally succeeded in her fourth attempt and gave birth to triplets earlier this week at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Ivette Yepez, 37, with her husband, Juan Mata, at her side, was discharged from Women's Hospital Center at Jackson on Thursday with three newly born babies.

Dr. Gonzalez-Quintero,a specialist in high-risk pregnancies at the hospital, delivered the triplets starting at 11:14 a.m. on Eastern Monday.

The babies were born two minutes apart: Joshua Angel, Gabriel Angel and Christian Angel. They arrived about four weeks early but all three are healthy.

Yepez said, "I'm very happy. I thank God and I thank medicine for making this happen."
