Suspect In Pettit Murder Rushed To Hospital

James Wonder Was Taken By Ambulance From The Pembroke Pines PD

Police Say His Trip Was Due To A medical Need

PEMBROKE PINES (CBS4) ― The man charged in the murder of federal agent Donald Pettit was abruptly rushed from the Pembroke Pines police department Wednesday night, just about the time police were announcing his arrest, and taken to Memorial Hospital in Hollywood. Police called it a personal medical need.

Wonder had been at the police station for at least 6 hours after he was found Monday afternoon at a Davie kidney dialysis center and taken into custody as a "Person of interest". Later Wednesday, formal charges were brought against him in the shooting death of agent Pettit.

CBS4 reporter Cary Codd reported watching 4 Pembroke Pines paramedics rush into the police station just about 10 p.m., and then, bring Wonder out on a stretcher, attached to an IV.

Wonder was placed into an ambulance and taken to Memorial Hospital.

Police told CBS4's Codd that his trip to the hospital had nothing to do with his stay in police custody, and that it was just a personal medical need.
