Report: Jeb Bush Considering Run For U.S. Senate

(CBS4) The days of not having a Bush in Washington may be short-lived. According to the magazine, The Atlantic, former Florida governor Jeb Bush is seriously considering running for the U.S. Senate seat Mel Martinez will give up in 2010.

According to the report, two sources have confirmed Bush's interest in the position. One adviser told the magazine Jeb Bush will "weigh how a run impact his family, his business, and whether the Senate would be the best platform for the causes he'd advocte."

The Atlantic reported that if Bush decides to run, "Republicans expect the field to clear for him."

All of this comes after the conservative website Newsmax published an interview it conducted with Jeb Bush. In that article, Bush said, "We can't be the 'old white-guy' party. It's just not going to work, the demographics go against us in that regard."

So far, no major party candidate has said they are running for Martinez's seat.
