MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4) ― There was help Wednesday for the nearly 300 thousand South Floridians out of work. Career services company, Employmentguide.com held a job fair in Miami Gardens at the Miami Job Corps Center.

It was a small fair with about 10 companies on hand, but all had positions that needed to be filled.

The Miami job fair is part of the "Putting Americans Back to Work" Job Fair Series, taking place in more than 50 cities across the country throughout 2009. The job fair series allows jobseekers to have personal contact with prospective employers

51-year-old Sid Daniels has never been to a job fair and never imagined he'd be looking for work at this stage of his life.

"It's a job looking for a job," explains Daniels. "I have been self employed for a long time now and the economy has put a dent on, so I have to look for a job to get me through."
