Jobless Can Now Check Benefit Eligibility Online
TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) ―
Those facing the end of their unemployment benefits at the end of the year can now find out if they are eligible for an extension with just the click of a mouse.
The Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation, which oversees unemployment, has launched a new feature on its website that allows those receiving benefits to see if they are eligible for a 20-week extension of benefits approved by Congress last week. Applicants will have to enter their Social Security number and PIN to determine if they are eligible.
Up to 250,000 Floridians who have exhausted benefits are will by year-end are expected to be helped by the extension.
