Convicted killer Kirby Archer will spend the rest of his life in prison for the murders of four people during last year's hijacking of the "Joe Cool" charter boat.
Federal judge Paul Huck sentenced Archer to five consecutive life terms Tuesday, as tearful family members and friends looked on.
The 36-year-old Archer pleaded guilty in July to first-degree murder, robbery, kidnapping and hijacking the boat. The plea spared Archer a possible death penalty.
Prosecutors say Archer hijacked the boat and headed for Cuba to escape child molestation and theft investigations in Arkansas.
Earlier this month, a Miami jury found co-defendant Guillermo Zarabozo of Hialeah guilty of firearms violations, but was unable to reach verdicts on piracy and murder counts. His retrial is set for January.
