Convicted Terrorist Heading To "Supermax" Prison

Serving a 17-year prison sentence

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Convicted terrorist Jose Padilla has a new address, a federal prison in Colorado known as "Supermax." He will spend the next 17 years at Supermax.

The facility is the holds some of the most notorious criminals including: Ted Kaczynski, aka the Unabomber, 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and Eric Rudolph, who bombed the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Padilla was convicted last August of three terrorist-related charges. He had been held for the previous three years as an "enemy combatant." Padilla was suspected of plotting with al-Qaida to detonate a radioactive dirty bomb in the U.S. Those charges were later dropped.

Padilla is scheduled for relate on February 9, 2021.
