Water Managers Asking Everyone To "Keep It Clear"
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
As we put the wraps on 2007, the South Florida Water Management District is already looking ahead to 2008 with a new campaign designed to safeguard South Florida's canals.
Dubbed the "Keep It Clear" campaign, the SFWMD is targeting residents whose homes back up to waterways. They say gazebos, fences and other structures built too close to drainage canals can actually end up getting washed into the canal during a major storm.
District representatives are trying to educate residents to "Keep It Clear," through mailings, media campaigns and sometimes going door to door.
