Debra Lafave Released From House Arrest
Served over 2 ½ years of house arrest
Still faces 7 years of probation
TAMPA, Fla. (CBS4) ―
Debra Lafave, a former Tampa teacher convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old student, has been released from house arrest. She has served over 2 ½ years of house arrest due to her affair.
Lafave, now 27, still faces seven years of less-restrictive probation as a result of her conviction.
According to her attorney, Lafave is doing well in treatment for a mental health problem, completed community service, and paid all her fines.
Her attorney, John Fitzgibbons has made his own headlines after claiming to reporters that Lafave would be in danger in prison because she's "too attractive."
