Jury Selection Set For Liberty City 6 Retrial
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Jury selection will continue this month in the retrial of the six Miami men accused of plotting terror attacks.
U.S. District Judge Joan Lenard set Jan. 22 for the selection. Lenard previously agreed to delay the selection because of an undisclosed family emergency involving one of the defense lawyers.
Last month the first trial of the so-called "Liberty City Seven" ended in the acquittal of one, but a hung jury for the remaining six defendants.
The group is accused of plotting with al-Qaida to destroy the Sears Tower in Chicago and bomb FBI offices, although authorities acknowledge that the alleged plans never got very far.
