Liposuction has been one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the past 5 years. It's an effective way to reduce specific pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. But now there is a non-surgical alternative that's helping women and men reduce fat and tighten skin in less time. It's called Lipo RF, or radio frequency liposuction, that is so quick you can get a treatment during your lunch hour.
Lipo RF, or Lipo X, uses radio frequency to heat up tissue and melt away fat.
Michelle Gangloff, 50, turned to Lipo RF, when she gained 40 pounds after back-to-back cruises.
"I was out of control." Gangloff said. "I gained so much weight. I said I had to do something and I had to do something quick."
What she did was turn to Lipo RF.
"It targets the fat and the skin at the same time without anesthesia and without side effects; no down time and no pain," explained Dr. Daniel Man of Boca Raton.
The board certified plastic surgeon explained that a hand-held device delivers radio waves to the face, neck, stomach, arms and thighs.
Not only does it burn fat, it tightens skin, stimulates collagen production and reduces cellulite. According to Dr. Man, it also burns fat around the organs that can cause serious health problems and everything is flushed out through the lymphatic system.
"We see the improvement in four treatments, about an inch to two-inch reductions," added Man.
The doctor admits for optimal results most patients need a total of ten treatments, with each treatment costing $500.
According to Gangloff, it is affordable, "because I'm thinking about how much we women spend on ourselves for clothing, jewelry, makeup going to the hair salon getting our nails done."
Dr. Man said improvements will last up to five years if you watch your diet and exercise, and for Gangloff, she just can't believe the results.
"I have a figure and I didn't have this when I was wearing sweats," Gangloff chuckled.
Each treatment lasts about 20 to 30 minutes and one can return to work and other normal activities right after the treatment.
Dr. Man said while it does not have the same results as surgical liposuction, it does treat small areas, those spots you just can't seem to defeat on your own.
