Driver Gunned Down In Little Havana

Driver Shot Dead, Wife Grazed By Bullets

Persons Of Interest Are Being Interviewed

MIAMI (CBS4) ―

A man died after he was shot several times while driving in Little Havana with his wife and friends Wednesday morning.

Miami police said the man was in a red Pontiac Grand Prix with his wife and two friends at BP Gas Station at 842 Southwest 12th Avenue around 1 a.m. when someone in a silver or grey Impala opened fire and then sped off.

The man was able to drive about block before crashing into a street sign and bushes at the corner of Southwest 11th Avenue and 8th Street.

"In the early morning hours a grey or silver Impala shot into this red vehicle striking the driver of that car numerous times," said Miami police spokeswoman Kenya Alfonso. "The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where we have learned that he passed away. Three other people inside that car were thankfully not hit. We have persons of interest that we are interviewing at this time."

Police said it is not known if the victim knew one of the four people in Impala which was found about a block from where the shooting occurred.
