Explosive Scare At Sunrise Post Office

Precautionary Evacuation When Van Caught Fire Near Front Door

SUNRISE (CBS4 News) ― An explosive scare at a South Florida post office today leads to an evacuation and shutdown.

The Sunrise Post Office, just off Hiatus Road, was shutdown for two hours today when a van caught fire in the parking lot and became completely engulfed in flames.

CBS4'S Joan Murray reports the van was converted into some type of camper powered by a small propane tank.

Officials aren't sure yet whether it was the propane tank in the van or the engine that caught fire. But since the van was parked near the front door of the post office, officials did a precautionary evacuation of the building.

There was one woman inside the van who was rescued without injury.
