Sopranos Finale: No Resolution, Just 'Goodbye'

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) ― It was all over after Sunday for Sopranos fans, with a Finale which did not include the 'whacking' most people expected, but the actors playing those characters are very much alive, and Sunday they watched that final episode in South Florida after a rough-and-tumble walk down the red carpet.

Thousands of fans of the show turned out Sunday afternoon at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and Hollywood, where most of the cast of the Mafia drama had agreed to attend a private dinner for high-rollers and invited guests, coinciding with the final episode of the show.

The elaborate dinner, featuring a cocktail area which re-created scenes from the program, huge overhead screens to show the final episode, and special touches like a cannoli tree for deserts and cakes decorated with bullets and guns, was off limits to the average fans, but that didn't stop people from lining up to catch a glimpse of the stars on the red carpet.

A glimpse is all they got.

After waiting hours in the sun, the fans watched as James Gandofini and the other cast members came from the hotel in a pack, surrounded by security, and virtually sped down the gauntlet of fans, stopping only briefly to sign an autograph or make a comment.

They spent more time down the carpet at the media-only area, but while many of the cast spoke about future plans after the series, none talked about the episode, and Gandolfini didn't speak to reporters at all.

After the cocktail party and dinner, the cast took pictures with the invited guests and then moved to a private room, where they watched the final episode together.
