2 People Arrested In Miramar Carjacking

MIRAMAR (CBS4) ―
Miramar police have arrested two people in connection with an attempted carjacking that turned into a shoot out Thursday in front of a Wachovia bank in Miramar.
Police have identified the suspects as Damien S. Gay a 16- year old teen and his 23-year old stepfather Marcus J. Stephens.
Authorities said Stephens turned himself into Miramar investigators and was charged with armed carjacking and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Gay has been charged with attempted murder and armed carjacking and is currently recovering at Jackson Memorial from wounds to his knees and shoulders.
The firearm used in the carjacking was a 9mm Luger and was recovered at the scene in the victims 2007, Lincoln Mark pick-up truck and the suspects vehicle was 4 door, gold, Pontiac Grand Prix which has also been recovered.
Police said they are still searching for a third suspect.
Miramar police said the shoot out happened just around 5:30 a.m. in front of the Wachovia bank branch on Miramar Parkway and 68th Avenue. Fifty-seven-year old Bruce Allen Williams had just pulled his truck up to an ATM at the bank when two men got out of a small brown car and demanded the keys to Williams's truck.
As Williams got out of the truck and handed the would-be carjackers his keys, one of the robbery suspects fired on him. Williams, who has concealed weapons permit, drew his own gun and fired back, hitting at least one of the men. Williams was not hurt. Both of the robbery suspects then took off on foot as the driver of the small brown car fled the parking lot.
