3 Airboat Guides Charged With Feeding Alligators

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ― Everglades Holiday Park officials have banned sliced bread from their airboat rides, after three airboat captains allegedly ignored signs warning people to not feed the park's alligators.

The three captains have pleaded guilty to charges of feeding alligators. One also pleaded guilty to a charge of touching an alligator.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission officers posed as tourists with video cameras, and caught the men feeding bread to the alligators and touching at least one.

Before the captains were arrested, airboat captains often fed birds and fish in the park with sliced bread.
