A Pembroke Pines man who worked as a softball coach at the University School in Davie has been accused of fondling a 14-year-old player and manipulating her into sending him nude pictures of herself.
Luis Leon, 40, has been charged with ten counts of transmitting harmful material to a minor, three counts of lewd or lascivious molestation and one count of sexual performance of a minor, according to
The Sun-Sentinel. He was arrested last Friday and released the following day on $65 thousand bail.
According to Pembroke Pines police, the reported molestation occurred last March when Leon was coaching at the Hollywood Christian Academy. Leon allegedly sent the girl sexually explicit text messages and fondled her on several occasions. One time he reportedly pushed her down onto a bed where he kissed and fondled her. Leon's arrest report says he also convinced her to take nude pictures of herself with her cell phone and send them to him.
Investigators say they found several of the explicit messages sent by Leon to the girl.
Leon's lawyer, Lonnie Richardson, said the allegations are not true and police have shown him no evidence to the contrary.
"This has gone too far," Richardson told the
Sun-Sentinel. "This is a 15-year softball coach with an impeccable record. He's never had an altercation with the law."
Leon, who has been suspended indefinitely from the University School, does not have a criminal record in the state of Florida.
