Miami Police Shoot Machete Wielding Man

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A man allegedly wielding a machete was shot by police Saturday evening, according to Miami police spokeswoman Kenya Alfonso said.

Alfonso said the incident unfolded at 6:35 p.m. just under the highway that leads to the criminal courthouse in the area of Northwest 14th Street and 12th Avenue.

Police said a Miami-Dade corrections officer flagged down a Miami Police officer after seeing the man swing a machete at another man.

Police were interviewing witnesses on the scene. No one else was hurt, Alfonso told CBS4's Tiffani Helberg.
