March of Dimes 2008 Building Our Community Awards

Shannon Hori Of CBS4 Is One Of The Recipients Of 2008 "Humanitarian Of The Year" Awards

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Shannon Hori of CBS4 received on Friday the 2008 "Humanitarian of the Year" award in the communications category as part of the 2008 March of Dimes Building Our Community Awards. 

"Humanitarian of the Year" awards were also presented to Miami-Dade Commissioner Sally Heyman,  Miami neurosurgeon Dr. Barth Green and Miami Heat's Alonzo Mourning for their personal involvement and commitment to making a difference in their community. 

Hori told the assembled crowd, "I'm thrilled to be here today and happy to be in the company of the other recipients. I feel honored by it." 

Hori, lauded by co-workers at CBS4, often reports with a nonprofit organization called Neighbors4Neighbors, the Race for the Cure, Miami Children's Trust, and El Dorado Furniture's Giveaway to Needy Families.

Acknowledging her eight-month pregnancy, she added, "I'm doubly honored, because I'm having twins." 

The awards were presented at a luncheon on Jungle Island.
