The Florida Marlins are another step closer to playing ball in the team's new stadium.
The Marlins announced on their
website Monday that the ceremonial groundbreaking will take place on July 18th.
The groundbreaking will launch construction of the 37,000-seat, retractable roof stadium which is scheduled to open in 2012. The stadium will be located on the former site of the Orange Bowl in Little Havana.
The groundbreaking ceremony will occur from 10:00 a.m. to noon on July 18. The public is invited to attend.
Marlins President David Samson said on the Marlins website, "We encourage all fans to come to the site. They will witness history."
