Hollywood Man Strikes Deal In Child Sex Case
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
A Hollywood man accused of videotaping himself having sex with pre-teen girls has struck a plea deal with prosecutors.
On Monday, Matthew Kent Sheley, 37, pled no contest to two counts of sexual battery on a minor and 102 counts of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison, followed by 30 years probation. On Tuesday he is expected to plead no contest to additional sexual battery charges
In April 2008 Sheley was charged with 11 counts of sexual performance by a child and one count of sexual battery on a victim under 12 years of age after a Hollywood apartment manager turned over a homemade video tape which depicted sex acts to police. At the time, Sheley pleaded not guilty to the charges.
A month later Sheley was hit with more charges after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Hallandale Beach police determined that a second juvenile female had been photographed and allegedly sexually assaulted by Sheley. He was also charged with more than one hundred counts of sexual performance by a child after a forensic examination of his home computer found 102 individual photographs, images and videos of children in pornographic sexual situations.
