Sen. Mel Martinez Robbed In South Bend, Ind.
SOUTH BEND, IN. (AP) ―
Florida senator Mel Martinez was robbed over the weekend, when he and his family visited South Bend, Indiana for a football game.
Martinez, his wife and son drove from Chicago to attend the Stanford-Notre Dame game on Saturday. They left their rental car in the driveway of Notre Dame Professor emeritus Jay Dolan.
Police say Martinez mistakenly left his wallet on the front seat of the car. A neighbor later found Martinez's wallet in his yard. The senator's credentials were left alone, but the thief took $180 in cash.
Martinez's nephew, Eric Maust, is a punter for the Notre Dame Football team.
