If a national magazine's survey of the fitness of cities is correct then it would be likely that Miamians would be the ones who opt away from the South Beach Diet and go for the hundreds of donuts that chug along conveyor belts, waiting to be filled, glazed, and eaten.
According to
Men's Fitness magazine survey, Miamians won't forget a few dozen finished donuts that get sprinkled with sparkly sugars and lacquered with thick chocolate.
Of the 50 most populated areas in the nation judged by the magazine's editors, Salt Lake City was selected as the fittest city in America.
The magazine said it researched the nation's 50 largest cities and graded them on more than a dozen categories, including the percentage of overweight residents and the number of gyms.
Miami received poor marks because of a large number of overweight people, a high rate of TV viewing among residents, long commute times and poor air quality.
Miami had almost three times as many fast-food restaurants as the average city.
