Metrozoo Receives $2.3 Million Gift
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Everyone loves a trip to the zoo, but for one man a trip to Miami's Metrozoo was so special he wanted to express his love with a gift.
Actually, 2.3 million gifts.
CBS4 news partners at the
Miami Herald report zoo officials have received a check for $2.3 million from an anonymous donor who died last December.
But it wasn't his first gift to Metrozoo. About ten years ago, the elderly man who wished to remain anonymous, donated $90-thousand to be used anyway Ron Magill, the zoo's communications director, thought would be appropriate. A year later, Magill received another check from the man for $100-thousand. Over the years, the man continued to write checks; in total he donated $900-thousand.
Magill said the man's final check for $2,307,684.36 will be used to help upgrade the zoo's aging amphitheater.
