Survey: Miamians Beautiful, Yet Not Intelligent

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Depending on how you want to look at it, the city of Miami is full of the most beautiful people of any city in America; but the city of Miami is also full of some of the least intelligent people in the country. Both rankings come from a new survey by Travel & Leisure Magazine.

Miami ranked number one out of the 30 cities analyzed by Travel & Leisure Magazine for most beautiful people. San Diego checked in at number two followed by Charleston at number three. Los Angeles and Austin, Texas rounded out the top 5 cities with the most beautiful people.

"In Miami, you see nothing but good looking people,' said Scott Piccininni of Ft. Lauderdale. Ashley Downs, a hostess at the Fontainblu Hotel on Miami Beach says she sees many attractive people pass through their doors, "Definitely the hottest people here, definitely."

"I'm married 26 years, so I have to say I really don't look, but when I take the blinders off, when you go to a club here, it's spectacular," Woody Kahn of Miami said.

The city of Miami was ranked highly when it came to diversity, being stylish, having a good singles/bar scene, weather, and as a spring break destination to name a few. The city also ranked highly when it came to luxury hotels like the Fontainebleau.

But the city also had some low points in the Travel & Leisure rankings.

Miami ranked 29 out of 30 when it came to having an intelligent population.

The comparison between beauty and intelligence brought up quite the conversation on our CBS4 Facebook Fan Page.

Gabriel Sniman commented, "Beauty fades (or can be enhanced), 'but stupid is forever.'"

Wendy McEvoy added, "Do we really consider Miami to be ranked #1 for attractive people with all the plastic surgery that happens verses the attractiveness that one exhibits from inside! Really come one, there's nothing attractive about being PLASTIC!"

"There are only 30 cities in the US?" John DuMontelle joked, alluding to the ranking of 29 out of 30. "Who knew?!"

Amused, Carolyn Guniss responded to John, teasing, "See, at least the intelligence part is correct. You should have already known there were only 30 cities in the US."

The city also ranked poorly when it came to cultural events like theater, historic monuments, and museums. Miami residents also were ranked 27th when it came to friendliness of the citizens.

Miami was ranked near the bottom when it came to public transportation and pedestrian friendliness. The survey also confirmed what every Miami driver already knew, the city ranked near the bottom when it came to transportation (both to/from the city and traveling inside the city).
