Task Force Targeted Underage Prostitutes & Pimps

A joint task force of federal agents and local law enforcement officers made 84 arrests during a three day sweep of underage prostitutes in South Florida.

Nearly 90 people were taken into custody and charged after federal and local law enforcement swept South Florida for underage prostitutes.
Dubbed "Operation Cross Country", the three day joint operation teamed FBI agents with members of local law enforcement Minor Vice Task Forces nationwide. In South Florida federal agents teamed up with task force members from Miami-Dade Police Department, City of Miami Police Department, City of Miami Beach Police Department and Broward Sheriff's Office.
The operation, which ran from Thursday through Saturday, netted 84 arrests; 24 in Miami Beach, 51 in Miami-Dade County and 9 in Broward County. Charges ranged from 'deriving proceeds from prostitution' and 'possession of cocaine' which are felonies to misdemeanor crimes including 'offer to engage in prostitution' and 'transportation for prostitution'.
Miami-Dade police say during the operation a 14-year-old girl was rescued from a life of prostitution.
