Miami-Dade Bus Routes Scaled Back On Monday
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Miami-Dade residents who rely on the county's system to get around will notice changes on Monday.
Service along more than 60 routes will be cut back, service to other routes eliminated, to save the county's cash strapped transit authority nearly $18 million a year. County manager George Burgess told CBS4 news partners The Miami Herald that an estimated 300 riders will be affected by the changes. Some of the bigger changes include dropping the Aventura to FIU segment of Route 183 because it is duplicated by two other bus routes, buses on Route 344 in Homestead will run ever hour instead of every half hour and riders on Route 243 will now link with the Metrorail at the Overtown Station instead to the Government Center station to cut operating costs in half.

But not all the news is bad. Miami-Dade Transit will use a state subsidy for a new route along 79th Street and the John F. Kennedy Causeway to Miami Beach. They also plan to launch an express bus service to Broward next January.
