Judge Young Of Miami Gets His Own TV Show

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Another Miami-Dade Circuit Court judge is getting his own television show.

Criminal court Judge David Young will step down May 25. His show is scheduled to start airing in syndication in the fall.

Young joins former Miami-Dade bench colleagues Marilyn Milian, who hosts "The People's Court," and Alex Ferrer of "The Judge Alex Show."

Development executives with Sony said Young caught their attention in news reports about his handling of the case of two America West pilots found guilty of being drunk in the cockpit just before take-off from Miami International Airport.

The 48-year-old Young is a Miami native. He was first elected to the county bench in 1992, and to the Circuit Court in 2000.

Young is known for his creative sentences. He once dismissed disorderly conduct charges against an elderly opera singer after she agreed to sing in court.
