Officer Mistaken For Suspect And Shot

Police-Involved Shooting Left A Female Officer Injured

THE HAMMOCKS (CBS4) ―

An officer reportedly fired on a fellow officer he believed to be a suspect in a home invasion call Friday evening.

Police in The Hammocks were called to an apartment at 15509 Southwest 105th Terrace in southwest Miami-Dade. Officers entered the bedroom of the home to investigate, while additional officers arrived on the scene shortly after.

One officer mistook a female co-worker for the suspect when she exited the bedroom armed with a handgun.

The officer shot was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
