Mueller Out As Dolphins' GM

DAVIE (CBS4) ― As we head into 2008, Miami Dolphins' fans expecting big changes for their downtrodden team have received their first bit of news.

General Manager Randy Mueller has been fired.

Many had speculated that the team's new V.P. for Operations Bill Parcells, hired last week by team owner Wayne Huizenga, would fire Mueller. Head coach Cam Cameron's position, however, remains uncertain.

"We'll meet this week and see where it takes us," Cameron said.

Assistant director of player personnel Mike Baugh and college
scouting coordinator Rick Thompson also departed.

Sunday, the Fins wrapped up the worst season in franchise history with yet with a 38-25 loss to the Cincinatti Bengals. With the loss, the Dolphins became only the eighth team to go 1-15.

Sunday was an inauspicious start for Parcells, who watched the game from a press box suite with retired Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf.

"Interesting. You know there's going to be some change. You know things are going to get moving in the right direction. It's just a matter of who's going to be a part of it," said defensive tackle Vonnie Holliday.

Sunday's game didn't bode well for either of the team's quarterbacks. Cleo Lemon left the game in the third quarter with a bruised hip. On the next play, rookie replacement John Beck fumbled a snap from the shotgun, and Chinedum Ndukwe scooped up the ball and ran 54 yards for a touchdown.

"A very frustrating season," Holliday said. "This game was another example. You hate to say it -- we just weren't a very good team."
