Dolphins' Crowder Okay After Crashing Into A Tree
HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) ―
Miami Dolphins' linebacker Channing Crowder is okay after crashing his truck into a tree Wednesday morning.
The FHP said around 5:15 a.m. they received a call about a vehicle that had gone off the Hollywood Boulevard exit ramp on the Florida Turnpike and slammed into a palm tree. When an FHP trooper arrived at the accident site, he found keys inside the abandoned truck along with a blackberry, a set of crutches in the back seat and a gun.
A check of the license plate showed it was registered to Dolphins' linebacker Channing Crowder.
Crowder originally told
CBS4 that he had let a friend borrow his truck, and that the friend was okay. When questioned by the FHP at his home in Davie, Crowder reportedly admitted to crashing the truck. He said he was tired and lost control on the wet pavement and hit the tree. He then called a friend who picked him up and took him home.
Dolphins' General Manager Jeff Ireland, in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl, said Channing was okay and sustained no injuries.
Crowder, who was drafted in 2005, has been one of the best linebackers in the NFL and ranked fourth in his rookie season with the Dolphins. After starting in 10 games in 2007, Crowder underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in Birmingham, Alabama on December 18th, was put on injured reserve four days later.
Crowder attended North Springs High School in Atlanta and graduated in 2006 from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
