Money Magazine: Miami 13th Best Place To Retire
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
If retirement is in the near future, Miami may just be the place you want to settle down in. At least, that's according to the latest issue of
Money Magazine and their study, "25 Best Places To Retire."
Port Charlotte, Florida takes the lead as the best spot for retirement, due to housing costs, medical care and the amenities offered by the city. From the beautiful park to the classes offered for various hobbies, people will rarely be bored.
Palm Springs, California was named as the second-best city, followed by Traverse City, Michigan. Pinehurst, North Carolina came in fourth and Surprise, Arizona rounded out the top five.
Miami was listed as 13th due to the combination of the traditional Florida retirement and the trend-setting atmosphere. The cultural blending is something that can appeal to almost anybody, as well as the major sports teams. Due to the devastated housing market, opportunists can grab a nice house or luxury condo at a deep discount. However, the article warned about the high property taxes.
