Anyone With Information Is Asked To Call Crimestoppers (954) 493-TIPS
MIRAMAR (CBS4) ―
An unusual bank robbery in Miramar early Thursday as thieves used a piece of construction equipment to steal an ATM from the drive thru lane.
Miramar police said a forklift, stolen from a construction site just north of the Bank of America branch at 15999 Southwest 29th Street, was used to remove an ATM from its concrete base.
Mi
ami-Dade police recovered the ATM machine and the pickup truck used to haul it away later in the morning. The machine was found at 16744 SW 96th St., and the vehicle was located at the intersection of Tamiami Trail and Krome Ave.
Miramar police spokesman Bill Robertson told
CBS4 Reporter Joan Murray that the thieves "knew what they were doing". It only took about 2 minutes to pull the machine from its base and load it onto a waiting dump truck, the thieves then drove off.
Police have not said how much money was in the machine at the time of the theft.
