Students at Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale held a memorial service Monday prior to the start of the first day of school for one of the teens killed in a home invasion in Miramar.
Friends of Davion Bishop, 15, gathered on campus before classes started to remember their friend and classmate. They lit candles, read poetry and hung a Jamaican flag in Bishop's honor. Bishop was preparing to enter 11th grade. He was part of the medical magnet program.
Bishop was killed in a home invasion last week along with his mother Faith Bisasor and a teenage girl.
Bisasor worked as a trauma nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital. A fourth person who survived the attack remains in critical condition at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood.
"When we all found out that his mom died and they murdered him, it was a shock to everybody," said friend Jose Buiza. "He was always like my older brother," remembers friend Kayla Walters. "I looked up to him even though he was younger than me, but still I can't believe he died so young, I'm heartbroken."
So far, no arrests have been made.
Broward Crime Stoppers has increased the reward in this case to $5000. If you have information, call
954-493-TIPS.
