Crews Search For Missing Diver Off Southwest Fla.

Police are searching the waters off southwest Florida for a missing diver. A Coast Guard spokeswoman says the 67-year-old diver went missing in near Gasparilla Pass around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The man's identity was not immediately released because his family had not yet been notified.

The man was one of six people on a diving expedition. He apparently surfaced but went missing before the charter boat could retrieve him.

A Coast Guard helicopter and boats from several local and state agencies were involved in the search.
