Police discovered a couple who died from an apparent murder-suicide on Sunday in the Deerfield Beach apartment they shared.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies received a 9-1-1 call at 10:01 a.m. to check on 68-year-old Francisco Dacunha. When deputies arrived they saw blood on the floor through the window of the apartment. Deerfield Beach Fire Rescue officials arrived and forced the door open and that's when deputies found the two dead bodies.

Homicide detectives say Dacunha killed the 57-year-old woman who lived with him and then killed himself in the Century Village condo they shared. Police said a weapon was used, but withheld information on how Dacunha killed his companion.

Police are not naming the woman because relatives had yet to be notified of her death. The bodies were transported to the Broward County Medical Examiners Office to determine the exact cause of death.
