Murder/Suicide Leaves Two Dead On Conch Key
CONCH KEY, Fla. (CBS4) ―
Two people are dead in the Florida Keys after detectives say the man shot his girlfriend and then himself. According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, a friend of the couple found them dead Friday night and neighbors heard gunshots from the Conch Key trailer earlier on Friday.
Detectives believe 55-year-old Christine Petros told her boyfriend and business partner 62-year-old Robert Babic to move out. Investigators believe she was helping him get clothes from a closet when he shot her in the back of the head with a .357 revolver and then turned the gun on himself.
The couple had lived together for multiple years and owned the Key Largo sign business named Sign Guyz.
