BSO: Parkland Man Arrested For Assaulting Gramps

PARKLAND (CBS4) ― Broward Sheriff's deputies fired shots at a Parkland man who allegedly assaulted his 66-year-old grandfather and threatened deputies with a lit Molotov cocktail on Saturday afternoon.

The man – identified as Patrick Gunter, 19, was not injured, but had attempted to run away from police. Deputies chased him and were able to arrest the six-foot tall, 300-pound man.

His grandfather was identified as Ronald Daddio.

He faces several charges including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault on his grandfather, throwing an incendiary device and resisting arrest without violence.

It all began when deputies received a domestic disturbance call from the 7200 block of Northwest 62nd Terrace. The caller told police dispatchers that the suspect was pouring gasoline over the house and trying to start a fire. Gunter confronted deputies when they arrived in the driveway and threatened deputies with the Molotov cocktail.

That's when a BSO deputy fired two shots. The deputy who fired his weapon will be placed on administrative leave, per BSO policy.
