Police: Man Stabs, Kills Ex-Girlfriend's Friend

COCONUT CREEK (CBS4) ― A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly got into his ex-girlfriend's home and stabbed her friend to death.

Paul Gayle is accused of getting into Joy Stewart's home at 1 a.m. Saturday on the 4100 block of Northwest 43rd Way in Coconut Creek, according to Coconut Creek Police Department.

Police were called to the scene after someone from Stewart's home called 911 and hung up. Police drove to the address and discovered Stewart driving away attempting to get help.

Once inside the home, police found her friend Hasting Clark dead from stab wounds. Gayle is being held without bond at a Broward County Jail. Police said it doesn't appear Gayle and Clark were in a relationship. Clark, police said, was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.

He also faces attempted first-degree murder charges and armed burglary.
