Cops Need Help Nabbing Pawn Shop Crooks
Pregnant Woman Allegedly Involved In Heist
LAUDERDALE LAKES (CBS4) ―
A pair of pawn shop crooks – one of them a pregnant woman -- caught on camera are still being sought by deputies a month a half after the crime occurred, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying the man and woman seen in a surveillance video as they walked into Pawn Max at 2568 N. State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes at 5:50 p.m. on May 16th.
The pair pulled off the daytime heist, police said, by distracting employees. One of the suspects pretended to look at the merchandise while texting. Minutes later, a pregnant woman walks into the store. The pregnant woman distracts the store manager by asking questions about televisions, while another employee helps a legitimate customer.
Seeing that the employees are busy, the man seizes the opportunity to lift the top glass and grab the jewelry. He walks off with two gold and diamond pendants worth more than $1,500 in his pocket, BSO said. Moments later, the woman wearing a red top described as being between 25 and 35, standing 5 feet, 3 inches and weighing about 120 pounds follows him out. The woman has reddish/brown hair with blonde streaks on the right front side and piercings on her right eyebrow and nostril.
The man is about 6 foot 2 inches tall weighing about 200 pounds and has a thin beard.
