The Broward Sheriff's Office has charged a man with child molestation after he was beaten by the alleged victim's father and neighbor.
Luke Petruschke, 43, was denied bond in court Tuesday morningĀ on one charge of molesting a child under 10-years-old.
Evidence of Petruschke's beating is clearly evident by the severe bruises and injuries to his face, which can be seen in his mug shot posted on the BSO web site.
Petruschke, police say, was beaten by Manuel Vega and Krish Carter Saturday morning after Vega's 3-year-old son told his father that Petruschke had fondled him.
Both Vega and Carter, who are neighbors, have been charged with attempted murder and remain in jail without bond.
Davie police say it all began Friday night when Vega, who was friends with Petruschke, allowed him to stay overnight in his home in the 51-hundred block of Davie Road.
In the morning, after the boy made his allegation, Vega and Carter beat Petruschke almost to death, said police. They allegedly smashed his car windows with concrete blocks, dragged him out of the car and beat him, police said.
"Vega went out to confront Petruschke as he was leaving in his car," said Sgt. Greg Gasse of Davie Police. "A neighbor Krish Carter joined in and the two of them threw rocks and debris. It went beyond detaining him. It went well beyond what they should have done."
Petruschke was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood where he was placed in a medically induced coma. He has since recovered.
Court records show he had been arrested twice before on sex-related charges, but never convicted.
