Stolen Hialeah Police Car Is Recovered
HIALEAH (CBS4) ―
Hialeah Police announced they recovered an undercover officer's car Friday after a thief stole it from the parking lot of the Flanigan's restaurant on West 84th Street.
The unmarked Ford Taurus filled with police equipment, guns, ammunition, and even bullet proof vests was taken while the officer was assigned to an off-duty security job at the restaurant. It was stolen while he was working inside the bar. Police across South Florida had been put on alert as they tried to find the car and the guns.
A bulletin sent to area police agencies and shared with CBS4.com reported that the items stolen included an assault weapon, a Glock pistol, considerable ammunition, bullet proof vests, police radios, police riot gear, and police identification.
Police say they recovered the car at an apartment building about a mile away from where it was stolen. Even though they aren't releasing more details they did say that most of the items still appear to be inside.
