Police Impersonators Rob West Park Mom & Daughter

WEST PARK (CBS4) ― Residents of the Broward community of West Park are being warned to be on the look out for three men who pose as police officers to commit armed robbery.

The trio struck last Thursday when they robbed a woman and daughter on their way back home from a trip to the Aventura Mall. The woman told Broward Sheriff's deputies she was in the 36 hundred block of SW 39th Street when three men in a white Dodge Charger with a flashing blue light pulled her over. Two of the men, guns drawn, got out of the car and approached the woman's vehicle; the one approaching the driver's side informed her that they were police officers, according to The Sun-Sentinel.  The third man stayed in the car.

The man reportedly told the woman that a car matching her vehicle's description was used in the commission of a crime; he then asked for her driver's license and registration. The woman told sheriff's deputies the man's partner stood on the passenger side of her car with his gun pointed at her and her daughter. He then said he had to search the car and took both of their purses which contained credit cards, cell phones and approximately $900 in cash.

Both men then got back in the Charger and drove off.

BSO advises all drivers that if something doesn't seem right when an 'unmarked' car tries to pull them over they should drive to a well lit area, dial 911 and request a marked police vehicle.

Anyone with information on the police impersonators is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
