Polygraph Tests Debated In Joe Cool Murder Case

Prosecutors Don't Want Test Results Admitted At Trial

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A polygraph test is at the center of the latest legal arguments in the "Joe Cool" charter boat murder case.

In federal court on Wednesday, prosecutors argued against the inclusion of polygraph evidence from one of the defendants claiming the tests are not reliable and could have too much influence on jurors.

U.S. District Judge Paul Huck said he would rule on the matter after prosecutors run their own polygraph test. But he warned defense lawyers he's not generally comfortable with using this kind of evidence in trials.

Last month, 20-year-old Guillermo Zarabozo changed his story about what happened aboard the boat.  He now claims the other suspect, 36-year-old Kirby Logan Archer, killed the four crew members.  Zarabozo's lawyers said he passed two lie-detector tests while telling this account.
